Blue

Not as in something borrowed and something blue—though I did have blue in my tie when I was married way back in 1993—but rather as in these:

Gooddings verbena, on which older leaves—perhaps 1/5 inch long—turn from purple to blue.
. . . .

Lavender just about ready to bloom in my neighbor's yard.
. . . .

More verbena, just a bit closer to prove there is blue here rather than just purple, as my daughter now looking over my shoulder says is the only color here....
. . . .

Desert bells, which normally are widely scattered, but this year—because of the dry winter—are quite rare. Each flower is about 1/2 inch in diameter.
. . . .

I think this may be Lobelia, but I'm not quite sure. Each flower is about 1/2 inch across.
. . . .

Even though the lavender blooms aren't quite open, this bee finds them irresistible, as do I.
. . . .

Tomorrow brightens up a bit with orange. But between now and then, an announcement about the launch of Terrain.org's newest issue, coming next.
