Mazda CX-7/Google Earth "EarthSearch" Game

EDIT: All solved, thanks to a good clue from Anonymous!

Anyone out there playing the Mazda CX-7/Google Earth "EarthSearch" game, where you decode clues to find places across the globe and gain entries to win the Mazda CX-7?

I'm stuck on the fourth clue, which is a picture of an upside-down alligator. The hint is this: Ever since War and Peace took place, angelic voices are heard.

I checked Red Square in Moscow and that's not it. Other clues have been found at pretty well-known landmarks.

Hmmm: perplexing, this one.... Someone want to pass me along another clue?

I won't give it away, but since your pointing out that that was an upside down alligator helped me solve the clue, I figured I'd give you a hint. (and hopefully a better one than the one provided by Mazda by a long shot.)

"Don't quit 'till the fat lady sings, mate!"

That did the ticket, thanks! Wow, that Mazda hint sucked compared to yours...! Now I get the upside down alligator; or, well the crocodile down under, anyway...!

Alrighty, found the next two locations, as well! No new clues until June 1....

Hey thanks, we were stuck too. None of us saw a crocodile ... we saw a seahorse, or a museum antiquity (which lead us wrongly to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg Russia. Angelic...St. Peter... it fit. One of us even remembered that War and Peace was also a... oh I guess I'd better not give it away.)

Hope you win something.

Hi! What a nice place. Found you looking for clues. I was thinking Joan of Arc voices singing...Still looking for it. I will also try something else after reading this. Wish me luck.

Luck wished!

#4 was a tough one. I guess I need to figure out the difference between a croc and an aligator. An upside down aligator was of no use, but a croc solved it.

Jeez! #4 was tough for me, but these comments helped me figure it out. Found ya on Google. :) Thanks!

Its june 1st and where is the next clue?

anyone has a clue on #7?

I am stumped!

I'm stumped on #7, too.

I was thinking about Scottsdale AZ, because flies (baseball) would get caught during Giants spring training, or flies as in golf would find their holes and Scottsdale is a well-known golfing location. But I can't find an X anywhere in Scottsdale... not even the Bear Creek Golf Club (because of the bears at the end of the video)

There's a picturpe of the eiffel tower on the wall, what looks like ski-ing on the TV, and bears in a field outside the window.

Everything is probably a red-herring except for the bears in the field. But that's probably a pun.

"flies finding their holes" and others "caught in a rawhide trap" is a clear reference to baseball (holes are base hits - rawhide traps are baseball gloves). I'll check out a few staduims.

Baseball is correct, but it is not so much the bear that matters on the clue, it's the pair behind the bear!

Thanks for the tips. I had no idea of the references of lfies to baseball or golf.

I was looking in ALASKA!

Clue # 7... fly holes? Rawhide traps? Bears? I have no clue.

I could never figure out what the pair behind the bear are. But baseball and the bear solved it for me. Keep in mind, it's a young bear.

Alrighty folks, no more hints! I figured it out just from this discussion, without even looking at the clues yet!

Aw, now I'm bummed that's the final clue. Rats. Well, it was fun, anyway. I suppose I won't win because the sweepstakes coordinators will condemn me for aiding and abetting. Ah well, I had great fun regardless!

They are baby bears

So, I'm looking at the place where the baby bears play and I'm not finding anything.

Anyone have a better clue for #5? I am thinking it's somewhere in France.

Simmons B. Buntin said...

On #5, if I recall correctly hone in on the street sign or name reflection. Then do a Wikepedia search on it.

I know I am looking in the right place just cant get it for #7. Bummer. Its over after this too. I hope one of us wins something. Come back if you do.

Funny just got it. Sad too.

Okay, had to delete one of these comments because it gave the answer. Folks, others are still working on it, and while hints are okay, don't actually give it away!

Got a better clue for #6?

The remaining image is an apple, a very large apple....

Thanks for all your help on this! This was actually a fun usage of Google Earth. I was thinking a while ago it would be a great tool for this type of thing... and then here comes the competition!
If I ever get my book going, I might do a contest like this!

Thanks guys, for all the extra hints. I don't think I would have gotten #5 or #6 without the little boost.
