If you're feeling generous...

... then you may be interested in purchasing me the new Canon Digital Rebel XSi with EFS 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens, available April 15, but available for pre-order now from places like Amazon.com.

More details on the camera here.

Until then, I'll use the powers of positive thinking and image manifestation (see image below, acquire camera below) in the hopes of securing such a fine, and reasonably affordable (it lists at $899 with the image-stabilizer lens) combo:

Just something to consider, friends.

Simmons,

This looks like a really nice camera--very similar to Nikon's new D300 only less $$.

Sigma makes a cool 10-20mm ultra wide lens ($450) that would be great for this camera.

Well, Simmons, it might be a good idea to hit up non-poor-poet friends for help with this one.

I use the Fuji Finepix S9000. My wife bought it for me. At 9 megapixles, and with its 28-300 lens, I do really well. Of course, the lense is not interchangeable, and I would almost kill for the chance to have a 18mm wide angle.

I am looking into buying a Holga Diana+ camera and start in on medium format.

I agree Scott, though adding another $450 to the bundle doesn't make the purchase any easier!

Sheryl, my perverse thinking is that a Daddy Warbucks is trolling the poet (and related) blogs and may stop by and, you know, feel generous!

The interchangeable lenses are a must for me, Justin. I've got a nifty 60 mm macro lens that I love. I'm sure the Holda Diana+ is a beautiful camera! Is it print or digital?

couldda sworn I posted to this...

oh well

anyway- what I said was, as soon as the check clears from Publishers Clearing House, that camera is yours, baby!

as soon as I get it, but you'll know- I'll be on Tv

I'll keep one eye on the TV and one through the viewfinder, Shann!

Yeah, I had a post go missing, too.

I was going to say the Diana+ is a re-make of the HOLGA (I typed "holda") camera---the one made of plastic, even the lens. Well, if you do an internet search, you will see some amazing examples of Holga type pictures. That and the Lomo effect are really becoming the focus of my photography now days. You can search out Lomo pictures as well.

Hey, Simmons- I cleaned up the front porch today in anticipation of my upcoming TV appearance- of course the wreath I took off the front door has been there for maybe ten years (we'd taken to sticking random things in it, plastic fruit, happy meal toys, small stuffed animals). Didn't wanna look too Texas trailer trash.

Hmmm. Sounds like a good recommendation to me.

I've got a trusty Kodak Easyshare. Takes great pics for what it is, but I keep trying to make it do more than what it is capable of... I'm ready to step up...

Trouble is, I also want to get a bike this year, also called the Rebel.

Decisions, decisions...

Hey Jenn, thanks for stopping by! I'm eagerly waiting for this new camera. A bicycle would be better for me, no doubt, but I use the camera more.

It has arrived, and I covet it!
